ForkSnap ("we," "our," "the app") is a calorie, nutrition and habit tracking app for iPhone. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you can control or delete it. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we never sell your data, and we don't use advertising or tracking SDKs.
What we collect
Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history, and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
How AI food logging works
When you log a meal with a photo (including an optional "after" photo of your leftovers) or by describing it in words, the photo or text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API through our server so it can identify the food and estimate calories and macros. To keep names consistent, we may also include the names of foods you've logged before. We don't send your name, email, or other account details with these requests.
Food photos are used only to generate that one result. ForkSnap does not store the photo itself in its database; only the resulting food entry is saved to your diary. AI estimates can be wrong, so you can always review and edit an entry before saving it.
Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers below, and only so the app can work. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- Supabase (backend and database) stores your account and app data. Supabase acts as our data processor and does not use your data for its own purposes.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) receives food photos and meal descriptions to estimate nutrition, as described above.
- Open Food Facts, an open public food database, receives barcode numbers and food search terms so we can look up nutrition information. No account or personal information is sent with these requests.
- RevenueCat processes your subscription status on our behalf so the app knows which features to unlock.
- Apple handles all payments through the App Store. ForkSnap and RevenueCat never see your card details.
- Apple and Google sign-in: if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only the basic profile information (name and email) they share with us to create your account. We never see your Apple or Google password.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users or others.
Consumer health data
Some U.S. state laws, such as Washington's My Health My Data Act, give extra protections to "consumer health data." We treat your health and fitness information and your food diary as consumer health data.
- We collect it only to provide the features you use in ForkSnap.
- We share it only with the service providers listed above, to run the app.
- We never sell it, and never use it for advertising.
- You can ask to see it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw consent by deleting your account or emailing us.
Your controls and rights
- Edit or correct your profile, goals and health data at any time in the app.
- Delete individual food, weight, water or gym-day entries at any time.
- Permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete account. This is immediate and can't be undone. See Delete your account for details.
- Turn off reminders in the app or in your iPhone's Settings.
- Request a copy of your data, or ask any question about it, by emailing dryheeme@gmail.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and we will honor those requests.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active so the app can show your history and trends. When you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted from our systems.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with our backend provider with access controls so only your account can read your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you if a breach affects your data as required by law.
This website
This website has no accounts or sign-up forms and doesn't set advertising cookies. It loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads. To count visits, we record the page you viewed, the site or app you came from, your country and device type. We don't store your IP address: each visitor is represented by a one-way code that changes every day, so visits can't be linked across days or traced back to you. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies. Neither tracks you across other sites. App Store links may include a campaign tag (like "tiktok-hero") so Apple can tell us, in aggregate, which links lead to downloads.
Children
ForkSnap is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
